A 51-year-old man who recently returned from New Zealand was produced in the Rakiraki Magistrates Court yesterday charged with murder.
Maika Nasara Bavou has been accused of killing Saimoni Virai, 19, of Vatukavecaceva Village on Saturday night at his house in Batabata settlement, and taking his body on horseback and hanging it from a tree.
He appeared before Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili who remanded Mr Bavou into custody at the Natabua Remand Centre.
The case will be called at the High Court in Lautoka on September 6.
