Lautoka City Council CEO Mohammed Khan says the city’s filthy infrastructure is a result of delayed maintenance.
Residents have complained about the state of the old market, the bus station and parks, saying they were in a pathetic condition.
Mr Khan said the reduction in revenue during COVID-19 had affected the council’s operations from 2020 to 2022.
“Many businesses in Fiji suffered the same, including the council,” he told this newspaper yesterday.
“Now that we have seen normalisation of most of our revenue streams, attention has been given to plan and execute some of the infrastructure that needs maintenance or upgrades.”
