The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has issued a strong reminder to all road users that road safety is a shared responsibility, following the accident in Lomaloma, Seaqaqa yesterday that claimed three lives and left several others injured.
LTA Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa said the incident was another painful reminder of the devastating consequences of carelessness behind the wheel.
“Reckless driving continues to rob families of their loved ones and put entire communities at risk,” said Mr. Rokosawa.
“Drivers must take full responsibility when behind the wheel.”
He stressed that speed limits, road markings, and traffic rules are in place for one reason — to save lives.
“Reckless and dangerous driving will not be tolerated,.”
The Authority also reminded the public that road safety is not just the duty of drivers, but of everyone — including passengers and pedestrians.
“Let’s all do our part to make Fiji’s roads safer. It only takes one careless moment to change lives forever,” Mr. Rokosawa said.
