Lawyer requests for psychiatric evaluation for Congo national

The lawyer representing Congolese national Kiala Lusaka accused of murdering his wife in Suva last year has requested the High Court in Suva for a psychiatric evaluation to be conducted.

Defence lawyer Laurel Vaurasi made the request to Justice Daniel Goundar when the matter was called this morning.

Justice Goundar has further remanded the accused.

The alleged incident occurred last July at Service St in Suva where the accused allegedly murdered 44-year-old Jennifer Downes.

The case has been adjourned to July 10, 2020.
