Pacifc Recycling Foundation and Waste Recyclers Fiji Ltd, in partnership with Paradise Beverages Ltd (PBL) and Tourism Fiji launched the “Lase Vou” program during the Fiji Tourism Recycling Forum held in Nadi yesterday.
The “Lase Vou” program is a dedicated initiative designed to advocate the reuse and recycling of empty PBL beer and Tribe bottles within Fiji’s thriving tourism industry.
Amitesh Deo, the founder of Pacific Recycling Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for the new program, emphasising its potential to make a significant impact.
“The ‘Lase Vou’ program aims to engage hotels and resorts in a collaborative effort to reduce waste, promote the circular economy, and ensure that empty PBL bottles are efficiently collected and recycled,” he said.
Mr Deo added that the program seeks to establish a robust network within the tourism sector, where best practices in waste management are shared and adopted, ultimately leading to a significant reduction in the environmental footprint of these establishments.
Mike Spencer, the general manager of Paradise Beverages (Fiji) Ltd said they believed that sustainability is not just a goal but a responsibility.
“The ‘Lase Vou’ program aligns perfectly with our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting a circular economy,” he said.
Tourism Fiji chief operations officer, Leigh Howard, echoed these sentiments and highlighted the importance of their partnership with the foundation and other partners have been a crucial one in achieving great strides towards sustainability.
Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi is the first hotel to take on the “Lase Vou” program, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and setting a strong example for other resorts and hotels in Fiji.
