Listen to this article:

THE trial for two former police officers who are jointly charged with murder continued in the High Court in Suva today.

Second State witness Alifereti Gada, 26, a member of the Poll-Friend for the Suva Market Police Post was crossed-examined by the defence.

The case is being heard before judge Justice Vinsent Perera with the two accused persons – Kelepi Duri Tautaumacala Kolinisau and Selema Tikoenaburevere – both present in court.

Both men are alleged to have murdered Joseua Lalauvaki following an altercation outside a Suva nightclub on September 2 last year.

Lalauvaki died at the CWM hospital on October 11, 2018, from injuries allegedly sustained as a result of police assaults.

Mr Gada told the court that on  the night of September 1 last year, two men and two women had been arrested and put inside the police vehicle from the Wrecktangles Nite Club located at Suva’s Carnavon St.

He told the court that on their way to Totogo Police Station, he was with the four arrested persons at the back of the tray of the vehicle.
