THERE is no excuse of having women in certain boards as there are a lot of qualified women in Fiji.

This was stressed by one of the new National Federation Party provisional candidate Pasepa Rosarine Lagi.

Mrs Lagi who is from Rotuma, contested under the Fiji Labour Party banner during the 2014 elections and left politics after.

She said she no longer took part in politics after the 2014 elections until this year.

And since she has been doing things for the people of Rotuma.

It was highlighted by Mrs Lagi that as the elections drew closer, she was approached by SODELPA, Fiji Labour Party and Unity Fiji.

However NFP was more persistent, she said.

She said that she told the rest of the parties she was not interested and her decision changed after she was able to push parliament to not table the Rotuma bill for a certain reading.

Mrs Lagi said that she thought to herself that since she was able to do that while outside of parliament so why not be in it and push for a lot of other things.

She adds that she started her career as a teacher and also has a background in forensic accounting in fraud examination.
