Kolinisau guides China in

OLYMPIC gold medallist and former Fiji 7s captain Osea Kolinisau coached the China women’s team to victory in the Asia Rugby Sevens Series at the Al Ain Amblers Rugby Club in the United Arab Emirates.

With the help of another former Fiji 7s captain Setefano Cakau, Kolinisau’s China side beat Japan 21-14 in the final.

According to Asia Rugby, China capitalised on loose defence from Japan in the starting minutes of the final and continued to attack throughout the game. Even as Japan attempted a comeback.

According to the Gulf Fijian Media, Kolinisau was in control over his team from day one and some of the tactical moves made by the Chinese players were reflections of the former player’s prime playing days.

Also included in Kolinisau’s coaching panel was Eroni Viqasi.

Members of the winning Chinese women’s team also took time to pose for a photo with members of the Fijian diaspora who were in full support over the two days.
