JOHN Wesley Day will only be meaningful if we embrace every piece and element of great divine work of deliverance and salvation;  if we understand the situation before Christianity was introduced in Fiji.

These were the comments of Methodist Leader Church for the Suva division Reverend Solomoni Kuruveivale while officiating at the John Wesley Day celebration in Raiwaqa today.

He referred to John Wesely as the Father of Methodism.

“Methodism has its roots in the 18th century Anglican Church, its founder was this Great man of God, a Church of England Minister, John Wesley,” Mr Kuruveivale said.

He said for the Wesleys and for all Chrisitians, work and faith were important aspects of a Christian’s life.

John Wesley College principal Mereani Lutunaika said the theme of today’s celebrations was based on ‘Empowerment of Education through the Light of the Gospel’

“Throughout the week, the students have learned a lot about the life and teachings of John Wesley,” Lutunaika said.
