If you have applied and not received Government’s $180 inflation mitigation assistance as yet, do not worry – all applications and pending payments will be made on October 19, 2022.

Economy Ministry permanent secretary Shiri Gounder said this in response to queries from The Fiji Times after some families claimed they had not received the payment yet.

“Applications for the $180 inflation mitigation assistance will close today, October 4, 2022,” he said.

“So far, the ministry has paid a total of $62.2 million to 345,307 Fijians as part of the Government’s $180 inflation mitigation assistance.

“This includes parents of 233,438 students below Year 13, around 18,483 tertiary students, 86,198 social welfare recipients, 5737 aftercare beneficiaries and 1451 pensioners.”

He said parents of 233,438 children had received a total of $42 million in payout.

“Of this, 189,496 children are in school, with a total payout of $34.1 million and 43,942 children are not in school (infant to ages 5/6) with a total payout of $7.9 million.”
