Although the search was still ongoing for Vilimoni Botitu and Aminiasi Tuimaba replacements, Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber said the hunt was still in its early days.

“It’s still early too say,” Baber said.

“Even when Tuimaba came into the squad, I didn’t know he was going to emerge the qualities that he had.”

Baber said there were a host of players picked from the Skipper Cup and local 7s competitions putting their hands up for selection including Suva’s Taniela Sadrugu and Jone Manu, Namosi centre Onisi Ratave and speed merchant Vinaya Habosi, Nadi pocket rocket Vilikesa Driu, looseman Kitione Salawa Junior, Police 7s forward Josefa Talacolo and Tabadamu’s Simione Cece.

“There are number of boys that have come into the environment to put their hands up.

“I will have a look at them over four to six weeks and make assessments on that.”

The Fiji 7s extended squad continued their daily training exercises at Albert Park today.
