FIJI Airways national men’s sevens rugby team has broken a 13 year drought to win the HSBC Cape Town 7s.

The side defeated USA 29-15 in the final. The last time Fiji won the tournament was in 2005.

The win puts the side in third place with 35 points behind USA (38points) and New Zealand (37 points) in the series standing.

Coach Gareth Baber said he was proud of his side to have bounced back after last week’s fifth place performance at the HSBC Dubai 7s.

Baber said the boys did it for their families, country and the Lord.

He also thanked the Fijian fans who travelled from different countries to support the team during the series.
