FIJI ran in eight tries and kept France scoreless to win its first pool game of the HSBC Cape Town 7s in South Africa.

As Fiji celebrated its 50-0 victory, the match also saw former captain Jerry Tuwau score his 100th try in the series.

Tuwau came in as a substitute in the second half and scored two tries.

Waisea Nacuqu opened Fiji’s rampage  breaking the French defence in the third minute of the first half. He converted his own try.

An interception by Vilimoni Botitu a minute later provided space for rookie Apenisa Tuimaba to run in Fiji’s second try.

Tuimaba scored his second try of the match following a pass from Mesulame Kunavula. Both tries were converted by Vatemo Ravouvou.  Fiji led 21-0 at the breather.

Fiji’s tries in the second half came from Botitu, captain Kalione Nasoko, Alosio Naduva and Tuwau.

Fiji’s next games are against Kenya at 1.20am and England at 5.03am.
