Vodafone Fiji Bulikula captain Talei Holmes is confident in her team as they gear up to take on Cook Islands in round two of the Pacific Bowl at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva today.
Representing the country for the first time at home holds a special significance for Holmes.
She emphasised the team’s strong preparation this year, attributing it to the bond and camaraderie among the players.
“Our preparation this year has been good, we have such good group of girls this year, in camp we are all bonding and jellying in really well,” said Holmes.
With a dedicated coaching staff and a cohesive team, Holmes expressed her excitement to lead the team onto the field today.
Holmes remains unfazed, believing in her team’s strengths and their ability to control the game through solid tackles and gameplay.
“We got a strong team, if we control our tackles and control the game, I think we going to go a long way, to winning this game, I’m confident of the team.”
As a first-time captain on home soil, her advice to the players is to cherish the experience and maintain focus on their roles.
“This is the first year captaining the side, I’m really honoured leading the girls out there, my advice for the girls is to just really take it all in, and we just need to remember our roles.”
Holmes looks forward to showcasing their talent and skills to the fans and supporters, urging them to come out in numbers to cheer on the team.
The Bulikula will face the Cook Islands in a World Cup Qualifier at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva at 6pm.
