The  Fiji Teachers Confederation (FTC) is contemplating to pursue legal action against Fiji National University (FNU’s) sudden notice of termination of contracts of technical college staff.

This was revealed by FTC general secretary Agni Deo Singh during a meeting with affected technical college members at a meeting in Suva last night.

“We are already in the process of discussing this matter with our legal experts in industrial relations. We are meeting them tomorrow and we are definitely going to take this matter forward,” Mr Singh said.

“We will look at all the avenues, which is the most effective and not too long of a process to get the redress we seek.”

Mr Singh said two teacher unions disagreed with the FNU’s press statement released yesterday afternoon that stated that Government funding was not the reason for the extensive review of the operations currently being undertaken at Technical College of Fiji (TCF), but it was being done to streamline and strengthen the delivery of its programs.
