KAIAVA Francis of Suva Grammar School scooped two gold medals in the senior boys long jump and triple jump events.

He jumped a height of 13:10 metres in the senior boys triple jump.

Francis said it was good luck charm that he won gold medal because he wasn’t training for the past weeks because he was sick. “But it was the support from the former students that boosted our morale to compete at our best,” he said.

“After my jump I suffered a hamstring but I never gave up hope because I had another event but I tried my best and I did it. My parents have been my greatest supporters and I owe it to them.

“The former students have been very supportive and they have been the backbone of our achievements so we all owe it to them.”

The Wailevu Macuata lad said the competition had been intense having his fellow Grammarians challenging him.

In second place was Sevanaia Veilave and third place went to Jacob Wainibuli both of Suva Grammar School.
