The Fiji National Rugby League will restructure the 2020 Vodafone Cup with a lesser number of teams expected to compete in the annual competition.
The restructure will also see the removal of the reserve and junior grades.
This is because of the lack of funding through sponsorship not only faced by the national body but the clubs as well.
Fiji National Rugby League acting chief executive officer Don Natabe said they would have to do with what they had to complete the season viably.
Natabe said they haven’t finalised the date for the start of the Vodafone Cup.
He said one difficulty they now face was the availability of the playing venues.
“Most sporting bodies have to re-book facilities because of the shift in dates for their events,” Natabe said.
“As a result there is a high demand for this since there is a rush for the sporting bodies trying to complete the season in the next six months.
“We are considering the number of teams for the Vodafone Cup and only the premier division will be played.”
