The Fiji Meteorological Service has maintained multiple flash flood warnings and alerts as heavy rain continues to affect large parts of the country due to an active trough of low pressure.
A flash flood warning remains in place for low-lying and flood-prone areas in the southern and eastern parts of Viti Levu, including Serua–Namosi, Suva–Nausori, Tailevu, Nalawa in Ra, and the interior of Naitasiri.
A separate flash flood warning remains in force for the whole of Vanua Levu, where persistent rain has already saturated catchments.
A flash flood alert has also been issued for the western half of Viti Levu, from Rakiraki, Ba, Nadi and Sigatoka, including interior areas.
According to the Weather Office, an active trough of low pressure remains over the northern and eastern parts of Fiji and is moving eastwards, with associated cloud and rain expected to continue affecting these areas until later today.
Authorities warn of likely impacts, including flooding of drainage systems, small streams, low-water bridges, Irish crossings, roads and low-lying properties.
