“ONLY a mother would understand the pain of losing a daughter”.
These were the sentiments shared by the mother of a 12-year-old Asian girl who was alleged to have been murdered at her home in Samabula, Suva, back in 2014.
Five years later, Nina is still trying to come to terms with the tragic incident that happened to her daughter.
Ms Nina told this newspaper on Friday that she still missed her daughter.
She claimed that police had not told them anything relating to how her daughter was allegedly murdered.
Speaking to this newspaper after the incident happened in 2014, police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the girl’s body was discovered by her father between 8am and 9am on the day of the alleged incident.
“She was left at home alone while her father had gone to have a haircut and while her mother was at church,” Ms Naisoro had told The Fiji Times then.
“Upon his return, her father noticed her lying motionless and took her to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital but she was unfortunately pronounced dead.”
She had also said police were trying to ascertain the circumstances surrounding her death.
Today, police had yet to make any arrests in relation to this case.
