Five for Aussie club

FIVE members of Cricket Fiji will join the Bullen Cricket club in Melbourne Australia.

This is part of their development plan in exposing players to overseas standard. They will be there to play and work. It will be funded by the club.

Chairman Setoki Galuvakadua said they were hoping Australia would open up many doors and for players to join clubs.

“Employment and accommodation will be provided by them, so on one condition, if they are requested to come and represent their country they have to come and play,” Galuvakadua said.

“We’re sending our best bowlers and batsmen, so hopefully some of these under-19 players will fall into the same program.

“The players are Viliame Manakitoga, Viliame Yabaki, Josaia Cakacaka, Josaia Baleicikobia and Makutu Seru.”

Galuvakadua hopes that this is a stepping stone for the association to send its players to gain as much experience and to lift the standard of cricket in Fiji.

“We’ll need support from Government to help us as we prepare them and we hoped to work together with corporate bodies in strengthening the sport in Fiji.”
