Fit body and mind

FIJI Residents Bati and Nabua Broncos player Jowasa Drodrolagi regards healthy alternatives as one of the main contributing factors to him being a healthy sportsperson.

The 22-year-old, who plays second row and centre, knows his way on and off the field when it comes to eating healthy and staying fit for season tournaments.

Joe as he is commonly known in the rugby league fraternity is from Ekubu Village in Vatulele, Nadroga and has maternal links in Dawasamu, Tailevu.

Joe has been part of the Fiji Residents Team since 2014 and has played for local and overseas clubs since leaving Lelean Memorial School.

“For this season I was playing in Australia for Port Campbell Rugby League and I later returned to play for Nabua Broncos,” he said.

“I’ve been part of the Nabua Broncos side since 2013 and from there I’ve been playing for both clubs mainly juggling the opportunities offered to me.”

He said when it came to grocery shopping he included healthy produce in his shopping basket or trolley.

“When mum needs supplies at home she would send me to do our grocery shopping runs and I shop at Shop N Save Supermarket in Nabua, because it’s closer to home and the prices are quite reasonable,” he said.

“Other shopping spots that I go to are MHCC Supermarket in Suva and Superfresh Supermarket in Tamavua because they have a lot of good quality products that I need when I’m training.”
