Fire destroys Bible college

AN early morning fire yesterday completely destroyed a concrete building at the one of the country’s oldest theological colleges located on the outskirts of Lautoka City.

The blaze destroyed a 150 square metre carpentry and joinery vocational centre at the Fiji College of Theology and Evangelism at Buabua.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the incident happened at 12.10am on Sunday.

“The vocational centre was destroyed along with all its contents, including the office and a vehicle parked nearby,” she said.

“Investigations are on-going to ascertain the cause of the fire.”

Established in 1974, the college has a total roll of about 800 students.

School management refrained from making any comment about the blaze when contacted yesterday.
