THE 1987 coup has been blamed for the increase in Non-Communicable Diseases in Fiji.
This was highlighted by Assistant Agriculture Minister Viam Pillay while delivering his response to the 2019-2020 national budget in Parliament today.
Before the Opposition Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka conducted the 1987 coup, Mr Pillay said people used to work in their farms.
“We can never forget the 1987 coup , he (Rabuka) has been the cause of pain and suffering for people in Fiji,” he said.
“NCDs is now increasing in Fiji because of him (Rabuka) and people have stopped working in their farms, this is no more.”
