THE Fiji Pearls extended squad netball team started their 2024 pre-season preparations yesterday, introducing simultaneous training sessions in both the Central and Western divisions.
This marks a significant shift in their approach, aimed at expanding the national team’s talent pool and addressing long-standing challenges of limited player availability.
Fiji Pearls head coach Unaisi Rokoua stated that the program is designed to give players, from all regions, an equal opportunity to train and compete for a spot in the national squad.
By establishing two squads, one in the Central Division and one in the Western Division, Rokoua hopes to create a robust talent pipeline, with eyes on long-term development.
The Central Division training took place at FNU Nasinu, while the Western Division session covered areas from Nadi and Lautoka.
