THE Fiji Museum today launched the Fiji Intangible Cultural Heritage Google Art and Culture Online Exhibition.

Directro Sipiriano Nemani said the museum received funding in 2016 to prepare a submission to exhibit on Google Arts & Culture a representative intangible cultural heritage (ICH) element from Fiji.

He said after discussions within their own working group it was then decided to pick the art of fire walking or vilavilairevo.

“So after some discussions , dialogue and deep thought although at first there was some hesitation from a few members, the working committee agreed to work on the submission on the nomination of the vilavilairevo,” Mr Nemani said.

“The group decided it would be most opportune to submit as a representative of Fiji’s ICH element for this project the gift of firewalking or vilavilairevo.”

The link to the online exhibition could be found on the Fiji Museum’s Facebook page.
