THE Fiji Football Association has joined The Fiji Times in mourning the passing of Sports reporter Maciu Malo.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel expressed his sympathy to Fiji Times and Malo’s family.
“On behalf of Fiji FA board members and the entire Fijian football fraternity, I express my deepest sympathy and sorrow for the great loss,” said Patel.
“It is sad to learn the sudden passing away of such a young person who always supported the growth of football.
“It’s a huge loss. He had been a humble and great reporter who always did fair reporting.
“I convey my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolence to the grieving family and I pray to the Almighty that his soul rests in peace.”
Vodafone Fiji Football head coach Christophe Gamel said he was shocked to hear of the news.
“He was at the games in Lautoka on Thursday and I met him, it is really sad to learn he is no more,” Gamel said.
“May God keep him near Him and our thoughts and prayers goes out to his families.”
Malo, 43, was a nominee for the 2017 Vodafone Fiji FA Media Personality of the Year Award.
He passed away at the Lautoka Hospital yesterday after a short illness.
He is survived by his wife Lusi and three daughters.
