The Fiji national team finally got a taste of victory with a thrilling 6-5 win over the Solomon Islands in a penalty shoot out at the OFC Beach Soccer Nations Cup in Honiara.

Although they had suffered heavy defeats to Papua New Guinea and Tahiti in earlier matches, Fiji showed determination in this crucial game.

The match started with the Solomon Islands taking the lead, but Rewa midfielder Tevita Waranivalu’s equalizer in the second half lifted Fiji’s spirits.

The teams battled fiercely, and Waranivalu struck again to bring the game to a 2-2 draw at the end of regular time.

Waranivalu led the charge by converting Fiji’s opening penalty, with Adriu Nabose, Steven Dean, and Frances Catarongo following suit with successful shots.
