Fiji 7s to face Ireland in Cape Town quarter-final

THE Fiji Airways Fiji 7s side will play Ireland in the third Cup quarter-final at the Cape Town 7s later tonight.

This after the Gareth Baber coached side finished second in a tough Pool A which had Dubai 7s champions South Africa, the ever improving USA and the unpredictable Japan sides.

Fiji started the tournament well with a well deserved 28-14 win over USA.

In its second match against South Africa, Fiji looked to have made a grand start scoring two tries within two first half minutes to lead 14-nil.

However, the home side bounced back and scored four unanswered tries to take the match 26-14.

Fiji needed a big win against Japan in its last pool match and the boys stepped up thumping their opponents 54-7.

The Gareth Baber coached side face Ireland at 11.02pm tonight.

Int he first quarters, hosts South Africa plays Kenya at 10.18pm, France takes on Argentina at 10.40pm while in the last Cup quarters, New Zealand faces Scotland at 11.24pm.
