The Lautoka Sugar Festival has not ruled out this year’s pageant because some small and upcoming business owners have come up with some unique offers, says vice president Pusp Raj.

He said businesses were hopeful all COVID-19 restrictions would be lifted by September.

“We do not want to disappoint the people of Lautoka and plans are already in place and we are hopeful all these restrictions will be lifted at least by August so we can apply for a September permit,” Mr Raj said.

“We have already hosted a series of meetings and we have planned the festival for the third week of September but everything will surely depend on the mass gathering restrictions.

“But come September and if everything is still in place, we have plans to move the festival to the end of the year.”

Mr Raj said plans were in place to reduce the price of stalls and those hoping to set up businesses during the week-long festivities.
