FEO ‘on track’ to completing all pre-polling locations within timeline

THE Fijian Elections Office (FEO) is on track to completing all pre-polling locations by the end of the prescribed timeline, says Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem.

Mr Saneem said there were now 35 venues [31 for yesterday and four for today] where pre polling remains to be completed.

“The Fijian Elections Office was scheduled to conduct Pre-polling in 60 venues around the country today (Friday),” Mr Saneem said.

“There has been an increase in the number of polling venues from yesterday (Thursday) because the venue which was to be used for Pre-Polling in the Northern Division yesterday (Thursday) [Sogobiau Community Hall] was being used for a funeral.

“We re-scheduled pre-polling for Sogobiau from 11am to 12pm today. This also affects the total voter count for today from 8080 to 8099.”

As at 4.20pm yesterday, Mr Saneem said their teams had reported the following statistics for Pre-Poll – Day 5:

Central Division had 14 venues conducting Pre-polling

Completed – 3

In Progress – 11


Western Division had 17 venues open

Completed – 7

In Progress – 10


Northern Division had 19 venues conducting Pre-poll.

Completed – 16

In Progress – 3


Eastern Division had 10 Pre-polling venues

Completed – 3

In Progress – 7

Mr Saneem added that the FEO would be conducting Pre-Poll voting in the last four venues in the Western Division;where the largest number of Pre-Poll venues are located [total pre-poll venues in Western Division 163].

The following Pre-Poll venues will be covered:
Vuaki Commuunity Hall- 153 voters
Naibalebale Village FEO Tent- 122 voters
Natia Community Hall- 55 voters
Yaro Village Community Hall- 172 voters

The total number of voters expected to cast their votes in the final day of Pre-Poll today are 502.
