THE Moceidreke family came in numbers to support their grandfather’s namesake and Vodafone Fiji Bati player Sitiveni Moceidreke during the Bati fan day at Albert Park in Suva yesterday.
Peni Moceidreke, a former national soccer rep, is the youngest brother of Sitiveni’s dad Laitia Moceidreke who was also a rugby national rep.
For them sports runs in their blood and now young Sitiveni is continuing the family tradition.
“We feel great and happy that he has made it to the Fiji Bati team especially being named in the Rugby League World Cup squad,” he said.
“He has played three Tests but to be included in the world cup team is something higher than that.
“We’re glad to see him excel as his namesake our dad represented Fiji in Rome in the summer Olympics in 1960 in athletics.
“Seeing him grow up, we knew he will end up somewhere good because he is a very disciplined boy who works hard, and at the age of 22 he has achieved a lot after being named in the national squad.
“This is a foundation for him to keep playing hard and keep aiming high.”
He added that they celebrated their yaca’s (namesake) achievement being picked in the national team.
Sitiveni Moceidreke joined the Rabbitohs in 2017 after a standout performance playing with the North Sydney Bears and scoring four tries in the ISP Cup round two match.
