FAMILIES and friends gathered at the Nabua Methodist Church today to pay their last respects to former parliamentarian Konisi Tabu Yabaki.

Mr Yabaki served in Cabinet from 2000-2006.

In his euology delivered on behalf of the vanua o Nabouwalu, Ono, Kadavu, his namesake Konisi Tabu said he was a very soft-spoken man.

“He always had a good heart and never spoke unless he was spoken to,” Mr Tabu said.

He said Mr Yabaki was always very eager to serve the church all throughout his life.

Mr Yabaki was originally from Tiliva in Kadavu, and is survived by his four children and his wife Timaima.

He was laid to rest at the Suva Extension Cemetery.
