It was such a sorry sight on 17/9/2016, in the Ba River. So many fish were floating dead or near dead in the water. What was more alarming was that people were helping themselves to all the fish they could lay their hands on.
Some people were even selling the fish on the roadside and making profits at the expense of health risks to the gullible buyers.
This thing happens only when there is discharge into the river system.
People talk so much about environment safety and preserving the ecosystem and reducing pollution, but it becomes a very sad scenario when people turn a blind eye to such blatant disregard to the water purity.
It makes one wonder about what actions the authorities in power take regarding such occurrences.
Are we really being proactive towards environmental safety, or is all the talk about environmental issues just a big bag of hot air?
Something to think about.
