PARENTS and guardians need to be aware of the changes their children go through, said Empower Pacific chief executive officer Patrick Morgam.
His concerns comes after statistics from the Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation revealed that a total of 4393 mental health cases was recorded in schools as of last year compared to 1701 in 2017.
He said such statistics should be a matter of concern to parents and the education sector.
“Parental support and guidance is essential especially when our children are going through many changes in their lives as they try to adapt or adjust to these changes during their different stages of development,” Morgam said.
“As parents, we can no longer afford to take this issue lightly but rather we should be more vigilant and try to spend as much time as possible with them and being there for them when they need us.”
