The Fijian Drua has announced that two of its academy players, Seremaia Salikoro and Sefanaia Naqama, have received scholarships to Tauranga Boys college in New Zealand.
This opportunity comes through a strategic partnership between the Fijian Drua and the highly rated Tauranga Boys college.
Salikoro, a student of Natabua high school, has been awarded a three-year scholarship, while Naqama, from Sila Central high school in Nausori, has received a two-year scholarship.
Both players were identified by Tauranga Boys college’s first XV coach, Regan Ward and senior rugby coordinator Aidan Kuka, who spent a week with the Drua Academy and selected Salikoro and Naqama as ideal candidates.
“We are excited to be able to partner with the Fijian Drua and provide an educational and rugby development opportunity here in New Zealand that supports their programme,” said Kuka.
Fijian Drua general manager, Baden Stephenson, said, “The Fijian Drua are thrilled to commence our world-class partnership with Tauranga Boys college. Salikoro and Naqama (both 16-year-old players) will receive an outstanding education, immerse themselves into a different culture, and will be in an elite rugby environment.”
