Fiji’s economy is evolving and undergoing transformation, moving beyond traditional industries towards a more diversified economy, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica.
Speaking at the opening of the new South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) headquarters in Suva yesterday, he said diversification was not just a strategy but a necessity.
“By supporting MSMEs and co-operatives in emerging industries, we are ensuring that our economy remains robust, dynamic and competitive,” Mr Kamikamica said.
He said the Government was committed to creating policies that drove innovation, reduced bureaucratic barriers and provided access to new markets.
Mr Kamikamica said digital transformation was also a key focus for MSMEs.
“We recognise that in today’s world, digital literacy and e-commerce capabilities are fundamental for business success.
“Through partnerships with financial institutions, technology providers, and organisations like SPBD, we are working to bridge the digital divide, ensuring that even the smallest businesses can participate in the digital economy.
“Looking ahead, our vision for MSMEs and co-operatives in Fiji is ambitious yet achievable.
“We envision a future where every entrepreneur, regardless of their background or location, has access to the resources they need to thrive.
“We see a future where innovation, inclusivity and sustainability drive economic growth. And we remain committed to fostering a business environment that nurtures creativity, resilience and success.”
