THE only open talent show in the country that will stage the diverse art forms in dance, song or any other ability deemed as talent will be showcased this year in the Kaila! Star Search 2015.
Of the 200 who auditioned, the top 25 have been chosen, said event co-ordinator Savuto Vakadewavosa.
He said the 25 finalists were mainly students from Jai Narayan College, Suva Sangam School, Ballantine Memorial and Suva Muslim High School.
Mr Vakadewavosa also revealed that for the first time in the history of the event, a magician had auditioned and won himself a place in the top 25.
The Fiji Times Deputy Editor-in-Chief Elenoa Masi Baselala said the stage was more than a platform for talent but also a window of opportunity.
“Not all of us will have whitecollar jobs, this is another opportunity, a little way we can help each other in life,” she said.
“Kaila! Star Search is an opportunity for those who are talented. We are creating stars and even though they don’t make it to the finals or top ten, those who started the journey from the rehearsal, they have become better features in life,” Mrs Baselala said.
She said the Kaila! Star Search was “our contribution in nation building”.
In a competition for $1000, the participants dominate more in singing than dancing or any other talent, said Vakadewavosa.
The show begins next Saturday at Suva’s Civic Centre.
