Cowboys ready for the Dragons

BURENITU Cowboys anticipate a tough battle against the inform Saru Dragons in the FNRL Top 8 competition on Saturday.

Led by former Fiji 7s reps and brothers Neumi Nanuku and Vereniki Waqa, the Ra-based team is confident of a good outing against the reigning champions.

Team manager Pauliasi Vakayalia said the side would give the Dragons a good run for their money.

“We expect to give Saru a good game and the boys are ready for the battle,” he said.

“We respect Saru being the champion team and we will give our best shot.”

The Cowboys haven’t won any of their games this season and they are treating this game as the final.

“The side lost to Nabua Broncos and Makoi Bulldogs and drew with Nadi Eels in their past three games.

Vakayalia said it would be an uphill battle for his players to beat the Dragons.

“We have played against Saru last year and we expect tough game. Our aim is to maintain our spot in the Top 8 and we are treating this game seriously.”

He said the side had been training hard for the game and the aim was to lift their performance from where they left off last week. The game will be held at Churchill Park, 3pm.
