BURENITU Cowboys will leave no stones unturned in their bid to down former Vodafone Cup champion Sabeto Roosters in tomorrow’s Top 8 do or die semi-final.
High after upsetting Nadera Panthers last week, the Cowboys are confident of another fairy tale ending after the dust settles at the ANZ Stadium tomorrow.
Last week, the Cowboys had fulfilled its target set at the beginning of the year after it secured its place in the semi-final but a win this weekend will be a bonus for the Ra-based team.
Team manager Pauliasi Vakayalia said the side would give Sabeto a good run for their money.
“We have defeated Sabeto early this year and we are confident of our chances on Saturday,” he said.
“We have achieved our target, now the focus is to move on from there and try to secure a spot in the grand final.”
Former national 7s rep Neumi Nanuku is expected to lead his side after an impressive outing last week against Nadera.
“Nanuku showcased his class from his playmaker position and he will be our go-to-man on Saturday,” said Vakayalia.
The former France-based player is ably supported by his brother and former national 7s rep Vereniki Waqa.
“Nanuku and Waqa have been the mainstay of our team this season.”
Vakayalia said the Roosters would also be aiming for a win to stamp their dominance in the competition.
“We respect the Roosters and they have proven themselves as the Top 8 champion a few years ago.”
The much anticipated clash will be held at the ANZ Stadium.
