Fiji has recorded two more border quarantined COVID-19 cases. Ministry of Health acting permanent secretary Dr James Fong said both cases were Fiji citizens who were repatriated from India on Wednesday last week.
“One is a 37-year-old son of Fiji’s 19th quarantine case that was announced yesterday (Monday) and the second is a 36-year-old female,” said Dr Fong.
“Like the other two cases, she had been in Chennai, India, whereby she accompanied her husband who went for medical treatment.”
The father and son cases are at the Lautoka Hospital “because the father has pre-existing medical conditions and is of advanced age”.
Dr Fong said the woman was in a stable condition and had been transferred along with her husband to Nadi Hospital.
“Her husband will be tested today and we are expecting to get the results back tomorrow morning,” he said.
“All of the rest of our 105 patients are expected to be tested for coronavirus tomorrow and by the end of business, we will be expecting to get some results. All passengers are in government-funded quarantine facilities and are currently being supervised.”
Dr Fong said all only had contact with medical staff members who wore protective medical equipment.
