Drivers and transport providers should do everything that is reasonably practicable to reduce their exposure and the exposure of their passengers.

This was the advice issued by Land Transport Authority CEO Samuel Simpson who said physical distancing must be followed at all times.

“Keeping everyone at the workplace at least 1.5m apart – in taxis, and other passenger transport vehicles, this will be challenging,” Mr Simpson said.

“There are steps that can be taken to maximise physical distancing to the extent possible, to help minimise the spread of COVID-19.

“Taxi operators should consider whether their transport services can be adjusted to increase the separation of travelers and avoid queuing, particularly at taxi bases.”

He added each driver was to ensure physical distancing was observed to the extent possible in their vehicles.
