A total of 160 staff members of the Health Ministry living outside the designated greater Suva area have had to leave behind their families tonight to help in containment efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete confirmed this in a tweet on his official Twitter account, hours before the lockdown in the greater Suva area comes into effect at 5am tomorrow.
“One hundred and sixty (160) MOH staff living outside the Suva containment boundary tonight have left their families and moved into a designated facility to look after Suva’s health for at least 14 days,” Dr Waqainabete tweeted.
“Do your part Suva. Stay home unless absolutely necessary.”
Fiji now has seven cases of COVID-19.
