All schools nationwide will close for term one school holidays tomorrow, a statement from the Government said.

It stated this decision was made today after consultations between Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Education Minister Rosy Akbar and and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

“The safety and well-being of our people, including all school children and teachers, is paramount and as a precautionary measure against COVID-19 and the recent cases, we have decided to bring forward the term one school holidays,” Ms Akbar said.

The Minister is urging all parents to encourage good hygiene practices at home and to ensure the movement of their children is restricted, preferably to remain at home.

“Parental guidance and monitoring are essential during such times.”
