Court of Disputed Returns to determine SODELPA and NFP petition

Listen to this article:

WITHIN the next 21 days – which is by December 31, 2018 – the Court of Disputed Returns will determine the petition filed by SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka and NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad.

This was confirmed in a joint statement issued by the National Federation Parrty (NFP) and SODELPA regarding the petition filed by Mamlakah Lawyers today on issues arising out of the conduct, count and tally of the 2018 General Election results.

The statement states that the petition includes claims of unlawful conduct by the election candidates under the Electoral Act and breaches by the Supervisor of Elections regarding his duties under the Electoral Act.

It confirms that the directions will shortly be sought from the court on the filing of evidence, legal submissions and the relevant court hearing.
