Council collects $644,488 in rate arrears

THE decision by the Suva City Council to offer ratepayers a 7 per cent discount in rates for the two months of the year has worked well with the council collecting $644,488 in rates arrears in addition to 74 per cent of total rate invoice generated.

In a media release, SCC special administrators chairman Isikeli Tikoduadua announced a further 4 per cent discount to ratepayers who wished to settle rates during this month, adding that payments could be made via any of the options available with the SCC rates department.

According to the chairman with a focus on continuously improving service delivery to ratepayers, the council will meet all its service contractors to inform them on the expected level of services required.
