Conch shells announce late Tui Wailevu’s final journey

Update: 3:56PM SOUNDS from the Conch shell echoed through the village of Wailevu this morning as the men and women of Mataqali Macavu, within the Navesi clan mourned for their late chief and Tui Wailevu, Ratu Kinijoji Maivalili.

Conch shells were heard through the village before the arrival of the late chief’s hearse. 

People were asked to observe silence and be seated as a mark of respect for the late chief. 

The body of the late chief will be laid to rest at their family burial ground in Wailevu Village after a memorial service at the village church.
