Concern over typhoid outbreak

THE Ministry of Health and Medical Services is urging members of the public to postpone non-essential travel to typhoid outbreak-affected areas

. The ministry is also advising the public to take extra precaution during this holiday season.

Before the announcement of the typhoid outbreak last Friday in the Naitasiri subdivision, the ministry confirmed 31 cases and 14 suspected cases.

It said the Naitasiri medical teams continued to make daily visits, implementing public health awareness and public health interventions in these villages.

Families have been educated on safe food preparation, food handling and proper hygiene practices.
