Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the Fiji Police Force will continue with investigations linked to the Commission of Inquiry report despite several judicial review matters before the courts.

He said the force was maintaining its independence while ensuring all cases referred to the police were properly investigated and submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

“I can say that we will not interfere unless a decision is made by the court on that matter,” he said.

“When that happens, we will conduct our own investigation and hand the file to the DPP.

“We continue to investigate the files that are with us.”

Mr Tudravu said the investigations would continue until all referred cases were resolved.

“I cannot pre-empt the court’s decision.

“That is for the court to decide.

“But I can confirm that we are still investigating the cases that have been reported to us.

“Our teams are carrying out investigations on the leads we have, and once we have clarification or results, we will provide updates,” he said.

The Commissioner said police would continue to uphold transparency and accountability.

“We remain focused on doing our work professionally and without political interference,” he said.
