Underdog Coastline Roos are confident of featuring in its first-ever final of the Fiji National Rugby League’s Vodafone Cup competition after the dust settles on Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi during their preliminary final battle against Ra-based Burenitu Cowboys.
The Laselase, Nadroga-based outfit defied all odds and created a major upset in the local rugby league circles by bundling minor premiers and Sabeto-based Ravoravo Rabbitohs in its quarter-final match last week.
The Roos finished fourth in the Western State rugby league competition and are pumped-up for the challenge from former national sevens representative, Neumi Nanuku’s Cowboys.
Team coach Keni Nadaro said the team was in high spirits after conquering the seemingly invinsible Rabbitohs outfit.
“We don’t have any secret and the boys have come this far because of teamwork,” he said.
“The Western conference is a tough competition and it had lifted the spirit of the boys to give their 100 per cent in each game so far. “Our opponent will be a different team and we are preparing accordingly.
“We are looking forward to the match on Saturday.”
Nadaro said the team was injury-free and fired-up for an explosive and physical encounter.
Coastline Transport sponsored Roos and Burenitu Cowboys would clash at 12midday on Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
The winner of the Vodafone Cup would receive $10,000.
The final would be played next week.
