RESIDENTS of Ritova Street in Suva are concerned with the poor conditions of a common road access in their area.

Shalend Naidu, 37, said they had raised their concerns to the authorities but it all fell on deaf ears.

“The potholes are huge on this common access road and heavy concrete lying on the road is a concern because it’s located on a hill,” Mr Naidu said.

“Sometimes, it’s a risk to use this common access road during rainy days.

“FRA says its not their responsibility then who is going to fix this? We are the taxpayers and we pay our city rates, this is unfair.”

In response, FRA chief executive officer Jonathan Moore said the common access at the end of Ritova Street was not their road.

He said according to their map, the common access was a private land parcel.

“The rehabilitation of the section of Ritova Street that is an FRA asset is proposed in the 2019/20 budget application,” Mr Moore said.
